OHIO — A woman was assaulted in her driveway on South Avenue Monday evening, according to a police report.
The victim told police she had been at home playing cards with friends and left just before 8 p.m. to pick up her daughter from work.
As she got into her car, an unknown man approached from behind and struck her twice on the right side of her body with a metal object she believed to be a pipe.
When she turned to face the man, he reportedly struck her in the face two or three times with a closed fist. The attack ended when a neighbor turned on a front door light, causing the man to flee.
The suspect was described as a small-framed, dark-skinned Black male wearing a hat. The victim said she did not know him and could not provide additional details about his clothing. Neither she nor her neighbor had security cameras that may have captured the incident.
The victim was taken to Mercy Health Boardman by a relative, where officers noted she had a black eye and a cut on her bottom lip. She reported no other injuries.
She told police she wishes to press charges if a suspect is identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
