
SOUTH CAROLINA — Dillon police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Monday morning.
The incident took place just before 8 a.m. at the 24 Hour Spot on Highway 301 South, according to Dillon Police Chief David Lane. Officers found a man on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he later died. The victim was identified as 52-year-old Burnie Ray Townsend of Dillon County, according to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Police have identified 25-year-old Joatur Delee Blakely as the suspect, based on video surveillance and witness statements.
Blakely is wanted for murder and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are warning the public not to approach him.
