NORTH CAROLINA — Two people have been arrested after three puppies infected with parvo were abandoned inside the lobby of a North Carolina animal hospital.
The incident occurred Monday at North Davidson Animal Hospital, which shared surveillance video showing two individuals entering the building. According to staff, the pair told employees the puppies had tested positive for parvo and needed to be euthanized.
When staff asked them to take the puppies outside to prevent possible contamination, the individuals left — abandoning the puppies in the lobby, the hospital said.
Following an investigation, the suspects were identified as Skyla Curry and Justin Knotts, both of Lexington. They were arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor animal abandonment and one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty.
The puppies are currently undergoing treatment. Hospital staff said they are hopeful the dogs will make a full recovery and eventually be adoptable.
