INDIANA — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a possible home invasion early Wednesday in a Whitestown neighborhood.
Officers were called shortly before 7 a.m. to a home on Maize Lane, east of Main Street Park and about a mile south of downtown. When they arrived, they found a woman on the front porch who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said initial evidence indicates the gunfire came from inside the home.
Several people were present at the time of the incident and were questioned by detectives. Police said no determination has been made on whether any of them are suspects.
Authorities said they do not believe there is an active threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing.
