INDIANA — A father and son have been arrested in connection with the deaths of two dogs, authorities said.
John Lowe, 58, faces two felony charges of killing a domestic animal and one felony charge of obstruction of justice. His son, Hayden Lowe, 22, faces one felony charge of obstruction of justice.
Police said the investigation began on Oct. 21 when a pet owner living off County Road 150 North reported finding her beagle dead on a nearby property. The beagle had suffered a fatal injury to the rib cage. Her other dog, a chocolate Labrador, was still missing.
Detectives interviewed a hunter, which led them to determine that John Lowe was responsible for the deaths of both dogs, and that Hayden Lowe had discarded the chocolate Labrador at another location.
The Lowes were arrested Sunday and booked into the LaPorte County Jail. Both were released after posting cash bonds.
