OHIO — A 20-year-old Youngstown man was booked into the Mahoning County Jail Thursday following a police chase involving a stolen vehicle, authorities said.
Lawrence Anderson is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in municipal court on charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony.
According to police reports, officers spotted the stolen vehicle just after 5 p.m. on Maryland Avenue on the West Side. When officers attempted to pull the car over, it failed to stop and led police on a high-speed chase reaching speeds up to 80 mph to the South Side.
The vehicle eventually stopped in front of a home on the 1600 block of Chattanooga Avenue, and Anderson, along with a passenger, fled on foot. Anderson led officers on a chase through several yards before being caught.
The passenger was quickly apprehended, cited for misdemeanor obstructing official business, and released at the scene.
