SOUTH CAROLINA — A call about a fire alarm in Greer on Thursday evening led to the discovery of a gunshot victim who later died, authorities said.
The Greer Police Department said officers and fire personnel responded around 5:40 p.m. to a home on Geer Streetafter reports of a possible fire. Firefighters determined there was no fire but found a person with an apparent gunshot wound.
The individual was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the incident in coordination with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. No additional details about the circumstances of the shooting have been released.
