NORTH CAROLINA — A High Point woman has been charged in connection with the death of her 13-year-old daughter earlier this month, according to the High Point Police Department.
Officers said they responded to a welfare check at a home on East Farris Avenue on Oct. 13, where they found a 13-year-old girl deceased inside the residence. A 13-year-old boy was also found in the home.
Detectives with the department’s Special Victims Unit began investigating and, on Oct. 30, arrested 44-year-old Kymberli Bowden, the mother of both children.
Bowden has been charged with two counts of felony child abuse and one count of concealment of death. According to arrest warrants, Bowden failed to provide adequate food and medical care to her daughter, leading to serious injury and death. Investigators also reported that the home was filled with trash and rotting food.
Bowden is being held in the Guilford County Jail on a $1 million bond as the investigation continues.
