ALABAMA — Auburn police arrested a 50-year-old Opelika man early Monday after responding to a reported burglary in the Covington Ridge area.
According to Auburn Police, officers were called to the scene on Oct. 27 after a homeowner reported a break-in during the early morning hours.
The suspect, identified as Demetrius Kelly, allegedly ran from the residence after realizing the homeowner was inside.
Police began searching the area and later located Kelly, who attempted to flee from officers before being taken into custody.
Kelly was charged with second-degree burglary and transported to the Lee County Jail, where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. Police did not say whether Kelly knew the homeowner.
