OHIO — A routine schedule change turned into a life-changing moment for an Ohio man who won $1 million on a VIP Millions scratch-off ticket.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said he purchased the ticket after a doctor’s appointment was unexpectedly rescheduled — a twist of fate that led him to buy the ticket a day earlier than planned.
The player opted for the cash prize of $500,000. After federal and state taxes totaling 27.125%, he will take home $364,375.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 55th Saint Clair Shell, located at 5505 St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland.
VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off ticket with overall odds of 1 in 4.02 — the best odds to win $1 million in Ohio Lottery history. As of October 28, 2025, there are 11 top prizes and 21 second-tier prizes still unclaimed.
Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to support education across the state. More information about the lottery’s programs and impact is available at www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
