
NORTH CAROLINA — A 64-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday in a collision between a pickup truck and a golf cart on the U.S. 17 Bypass near Maul Swamp Road, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Joshua Wilder, 40, of Greenville, was driving a northbound GMC 2500 pickup truck when it collided head-on with a golf cart traveling southbound in the northbound lane. The golf cart was operated by Kenneth Esola, 64, of Vanceboro.
Esola was ejected from the golf cart and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to ECU Health in Greenville for emergency treatment.
The Highway Patrol said the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
