NORTH CAROLINA — Two men are in custody following a cattle rustling investigation in Randolph County, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Randall Burgess and Zachary Todd are accused of taking cattle from a property on Royal Ridge Road in Ramseur on October 17 and selling them at a stockyard in Chatham County.
Both men were arrested Tuesday. Burgess was charged with felony larceny of cattle and released on a $20,000 bond.
Todd was also charged with felony larceny of cattle in Randolph County. In Chatham County, he faces additional felony charges, including obtaining property by false pretense, identity theft, and possession of stolen property. Todd was not granted bond because he was already out on pre-trial release.
The investigation remains ongoing.
