
NORTH CAROLINA — An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary that led to an exchange of gunfire in mid-August, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident happened around 10:54 p.m. on Aug. 14 on the 21000 block of Highway 24-27 near McKoy Town Road. The Harnett County 911 Center received a call reporting several people approaching a home with weapons.
Investigators said gunfire was exchanged between the caller and the suspects as they tried to enter the home. Shell casings were later found around the home and along the road. No one inside the residence was injured.
Tyler Jupiter, 18, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and seven counts of discharging a firearm from within an enclosure, according to court documents. He is scheduled to appear in Harnett County court on Wednesday morning.
