
OHIO — The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash between a train and a vehicle that occurred early Saturday morning, killing a 22-year-old man.
According to a release from Cleveland Police, the crash happened around 6:02 a.m. when a 2024 Volkswagen SUV was stopped on railway property west of Coit Road, north of Kirby Avenue.
The vehicle was positioned partially on the single track and partially on the gravel railway bed when it was struck by an eastbound train.
The impact pushed the SUV east through the gravel railway bed and across Coit Road, police said.
The 22-year-old driver was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
