
PENNSYLVANIA — A wrong-way crash early Sunday morning on the Parkway West near Pittsburgh International Airport left one person dead and two others injured, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the McClaren Road interchange, or Exit 56, when Summer Cartrette, 26, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided with another vehicle. Cartrette was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to a hospital. Authorities have not released details about the severity of their injuries.
All westbound lanes in the area were closed for nearly four hours while crews cleared the scene. The roadway reopened around 5:30 a.m., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
State police said their investigation into the crash is ongoing.
