Police seize nearly $500,000 in narcotics in one week in Virginia

VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police seized nearly $500,000 worth of narcotics during a weeklong statewide operation conducted earlier this month, authorities announced.

Between October 8 and October 14, state police, working with federal and local partners, confiscated more than 63 pounds of drugs, including 642 THC vapes, with an estimated street value of $495,822.

The seized narcotics included 1.1 pounds of cocaine, 1.4 ounces of crack cocaine, 55.6 pounds of marijuana, 10.2 ounces of heroin, 5 pounds of methamphetamine, and 13.3 ounces of fentanyl.

In addition to drug seizures, police received 16 new human trafficking tips during the same period, bringing the total number of tips this year to 1,284.

Authorities said 216 cases are currently being investigated by state police, with 3,398 investigative activities underway. So far, 75 victims have been identified and offered assistance.
