OHIO — A coordinated violent crime reduction initiative in Cleveland on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, led to 16 felony arrests, the seizure of 11 illegally possessed firearms, and the recovery of three stolen vehicles, officials said.

Governor Mike DeWine said the operation “brings together trained law enforcement officials from across the state to protect the public by removing violent criminals and illegal firearms from our streets.

This successful operation demonstrates the strength of our long-term, ongoing partnerships and our focus on holding violent offenders responsible for their actions.”

The initiative, launched in 2023 by Gov. DeWine and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, aims to reduce violent crime in the city. Mayor Bibb said, “These numbers are more than just statistics; they represent a significant number of violent encounters that were prevented… Consider this a clear message to all those who threaten the safety of our city that you will be held accountable.”

Notable Arrests and Seizures

Troopers recovered an illegally possessed firearm with an extended magazine from the vehicle. Additional charges are pending.
