One person dead following motorcycle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a collision with a pickup truck on Geer Highway, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 8 p.m. in the 1700 block of Geer Highway when a 1988 GMC pickup was turning left from a driveway onto the roadway.

A 2023 Suzuki motorcycle traveling east struck the driver’s side of the truck.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 44-year-old Jeremy Brent Gowan of Cleveland. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver was taken to Prisma Health–Greenville Memorial Hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
