OHIO — A Sheffield Lake man is celebrating a life-changing win after purchasing a $10 Mystery Multiplier scratch-off ticket worth $300,000 from Brownie’s Market.

The winner told Ohio Lottery officials that he rarely plays the lottery but decided to buy a ticket “on a whim” while stopping at the store on the day of a family funeral. He took the ticket home and played it with his family, only to discover he had hit the game’s top prize.

“I thought it was a joke,” he said, describing the moment as surreal. He has not yet made plans for his winnings.

After federal and state tax withholdings, he will receive approximately $218,625. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 416,666. As of October 15, there are 10 top prizes remaining in the Mystery Multiplier game, along with other prizes. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.06.

Brownie’s Market, located at 5260 East Lake Road, will receive a $3,000 sales bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education across the state. More information about the lottery and its impact on education can be found at www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
