TENNESSEE — Two people were arrested early Thursday morning after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and drug-related items, according to the White County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
Deputies said the stop occurred just before 4 a.m. near Burgess Falls Road and Old Cookeville Road after a yellow pickup truck was seen failing to maintain its lane and had an expired registration. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of marijuana.
The driver was unable to provide a valid license, and authorities later confirmed it was suspended.
During the stop, the deputy noticed grow lights inside the truck, and a passenger eventually pulled out a large bag of suspected marijuana from under the seat.
A search of the vehicle uncovered what deputies believe to be approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine, one marijuana plant with about 50 buds, several packaged Xanax pills, multiple pipes, one large bag of marijuana, and six grow lights used for marijuana cultivation.
Both individuals were taken into custody and booked into the White County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
