NORTH CAROLINA — A Stokes man was arrested Friday, October 10, after a Pitt County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a vehicle with fictitious tags on Main Street.
Authorities said 45-year-old James Emlett Gardner fled on foot during the stop but was apprehended after a brief struggle. Officers discovered a knife and a small stun gun on Gardner, as well as crack cocaine in his vehicle.
Officials also determined that Gardner’s driver’s license had been revoked and that he was wanted on a Felony Probation Violation out of Johnston County.
Gardner is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including Driving While License Revoked, Fictitious Tag, Resist/Delay/Obstruct, Carrying Concealed Weapons, Possession of Cocaine, and Probation Violation.
He was given secured bonds of $50,000 for the probation violation and $17,000 for the other charges.
