FLORIDA — Tampa Fire Rescue crews are responding to a hazardous materials situation that has led to the evacuation of several homes in a local neighborhood.
Officials said the incident occurred along South Covina Circle, located south of Busch Boulevard and east of North 40th Street. The situation was initially reported as a structure fire after crews observed a large amount of smoke.
TFR’s hazardous materials team, along with the Tampa Police Department’s bomb squad, were called to the scene.
“Out of an abundance of caution, nearby homes have been temporarily evacuated while crews work to secure the area,” a TFR news release stated.
No injuries have been reported as of now, and authorities continue to manage the situation.
