INDIANA — The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Gang & Violent Crimes Unit broke up a large party early Sunday morning after connecting it to a local street gang and reports of illegal activity.
Officers responded to complaints of a loud party at 10006 Jamaica Drive and determined that several attendees were members of the local gang known as BMG.
During surveillance, police said they observed narcotics being brought into the home and identified multiple known gang members, including two individuals wanted on felony charges.
A search warrant was obtained and executed with assistance from the Indiana State Police. About 30 adults and minors were removed from the rented Airbnb property. Investigators said they recovered three firearms and parts of what may be a machine gun.
Authorities shut down the gathering and contacted the Airbnb owners about the incident. Police are urging residents to report any suspicious activity at short-term rental properties.
The investigation remains ongoing.
