FLORIDA — One person was killed and four others were injured, two critically, in a head-on collision late Saturday night in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. on SW 49th Avenue, south of SW 117th Place.
Troopers said a 70-year-old Ocala man was driving a northbound sedan when another sedan traveling southbound crossed into his lane and struck the front of his vehicle.
The 70-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 31-year-old passenger in his car and the 35-year-old driver of the southbound sedan were both critically injured.
Two additional passengers in the southbound vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
