
NORTH CAROLINA — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee was arrested Friday and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, according to Charlotte police.
Police identified the employee as 43-year-old Cheryl Gates. She was taken into custody by Charlotte officers and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Gates faces charges of attempted murder, contaminating food or drink to render someone mentally incapacitated or physically helpless, stalking, and damage to property.
Authorities said the incident occurred off school property and did not involve any students, teachers, or school staff. Police have not released details about the circumstances leading to the charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
