ALABAMA — A Cottonwood man is in custody after a stabbing early Friday morning that left another man hospitalized, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 900 block of Metcalf Street after receiving a call about an edged weapon assault.
When they arrived, they found a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the neck and back. Deputies provided medical aid before the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said the suspect, 34-year-old Thomas Smith, was found at the scene and taken into custody. After serving multiple search warrants, authorities charged Smith with assault in the second degree and possession of a controlled substance.
According to investigators, the stabbing followed an argument between Smith and the victim.
The Houston County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
