LOUISIANA — Two men, including a wanted fugitive from Abbeville, were arrested following a months-long investigation into felony narcotics violations in Vermilion Parish.
Authorities said 21-year-old Kabien Wright was taken into custody at a residence on West Valcourt Street in Abbeville and booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail.
Wright faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of Alprazolam and crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, presence of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone, transactions involving drug proceeds, resisting arrest, and second or subsequent offenses. He is currently being held on a probation bond.
Nineteen-year-old Cade Duhon was also arrested at the residence and booked into jail on charges of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute marijuana and accessory after the fact to possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was later released on a $12,500 bond.
Officials said Duhon was observed leaving the residence, and officers noted the smell of marijuana. After obtaining a search warrant, authorities repeatedly called for Wright to exit the home. He ultimately surrendered to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team without incident.
During the search, deputies seized approximately 741.2 grams of marijuana, three suspected Alprazolam pills, about 1.74 grams of suspected crack cocaine, one GLOCK handgun, and $5,008 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
