Nine people arrested following drug bust in Louisiana

LOUISIANA — Nine people were arrested in two separate drug investigations in East Baton Rouge Parish, the sheriff’s office announced. Both investigations began in September.

In the first case, deputies targeted alleged drug dealer Javonta Harris, who was accused of selling crystal meth from his home on Granite Drive.

A search of Harris’ residence uncovered 6.6 grams of fentanyl, 29 grams of crack cocaine, 0.7 grams of methamphetamine, 11 ounces of marijuana, 169 Xanax pills, 71 MDMA pills, five bottles of promethazine syrup, drug paraphernalia, two firearms, and over $9,000 in cash. Harris and Louis Brown were arrested Monday.

In the second investigation, deputies, working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), targeted a drug operation in the Belaire neighborhood linked to the rap label “Spider Nation.” Following controlled purchases of meth and marijuana, authorities raided seven locations in East Baton Rouge Parish and one in Livingston Parish on Tuesday.

The raids resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, 522 dosage units of pressed fentanyl, 122.6 grams of methamphetamine, 82 dosage units of methamphetamine, 343 Alprazolam pills, 78.3 grams of cocaine, 4.9 grams of crack cocaine, 54.3 ounces of marijuana, 59.5 ounces of promethazine, 16 ounces of promethazine with codeine, 8 Adderall pills, digital scales, $33,635 in cash (pending seizure), and seven firearms.

Seven people—Kartez McKneely, Chasity Banks, Taivon Moore, Joe Anderson, Demarius Carter, Terence Robertson, and Quentiss Jackson—were arrested. Authorities are still searching for Jimmy Veals and Frederick Robertson.
