One person arrested for stealing multiple firearms in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A Sneads Ferry man has been arrested in connection with a breaking and entering case that led to the theft of multiple firearms, ammunition, and personal property, according to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 37-year-old Joshua Chavis on Wednesday, October 1, at a home in Sneads Ferry without incident. Authorities said the burglary occurred while the homeowners were away from their Longboat Lane residence.

Chavis faces several felony charges, including breaking or entering a residence, larceny of a firearm, larceny after breaking and entering, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, motor vehicle theft, financial card theft, obtaining property by false pretense, larceny, and possession of stolen property.

He is being held at the Onslow County Jail without bond.

The case remains under investigation, and stolen firearms with confirmed serial numbers have been entered into national law enforcement databases.
