FLORIDA — A Jacksonville woman reported missing earlier this week was found safe Thursday morning in a ditch in Fort Pierce, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies had been searching for 53-year-old Jennifer Fisher after her white 2018 Acura MDX was found partially submerged in a canal Tuesday, with no one inside. The Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, K-9 Unit, and other teams searched the area Tuesday evening but did not locate her.

Around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a naked woman lying in a ditch on the 4400 block of Johnston Road. Fisher was identified at the scene.

According to authorities, Fisher told deputies she had crashed her vehicle, removed her clothes, and walked into the woods, where she remained for several days. Her only complaint was irritation from fire ant bites.

Investigators had previously learned Fisher had planned to stay at an Airbnb for two nights and noted a teal e-bike on the back of her vehicle before the crash. When questioned, she said she did not have the bike with her.

Fisher was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue for evaluation. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate.
