IOWA — A two-vehicle crash on Iowa Highway 7 late Saturday night left two people dead and four others injured, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m., about three miles east of Manson.
Authorities said a 2012 Chevrolet Express van driven by 46-year-old Wilfredo Quevedo Mesa of Storm Lake was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and struck a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven eastbound by 21-year-old Conner Darr of Manson.
Both vehicles left the roadway following the collision. The van rolled onto its side in a ditch, while the pickup truck also entered a ditch, struck a utility pole, and came to rest in a field.
Three unrestrained passengers were reportedly sitting on patio furniture in the back of the van at the time of the crash.
Two people were killed: 26-year-old Alondra Bravo and 34-year-old Jorge Perez Hechavarria, both of Storm Lake. Four others were injured, including 8-year-old Luis Bravo, 46-year-old Marina Escalante, and 46-year-old Wilfredo Quevedo Mesa, all from Storm Lake, and Conner Darr of Manson.
The investigation is ongoing.
