TENNESSEE — A months-long investigation into drug sales in Madison ended Thursday with the arrest of 46-year-old Joseph Webster, authorities said.

Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department took Webster into custody as he left his home on Canton Pass. Officers recovered 5.1 grams of fentanyl and cocaine at the time of the arrest. A search of the residence also uncovered two pistols and cash.

Webster has a prior history of drug offenses in Nashville. He was convicted of felony cocaine possession in 2002 and sentenced to 13 years in prison. In 2005, he was convicted of murder, but the conviction was later overturned due to new evidence.

He now faces charges including possession of drugs for resale, unlawful gun possession by a felon, and possessing a firearm with intent to commit a felony. Webster is being held on an $80,000 bond.
