TENNESSEE — A Clarksville woman is facing charges after police say she impersonated a medical professional and stole medication from a patient at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital earlier this month.
The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the hospital on Church Street. According to Metro police, 36-year-old Marissa Jean Denton, a former hospital employee who left in January 2024, entered a patient’s room while a nurse was present.
After the nurse stepped out, Denton allegedly used a plastic syringe to withdraw 4 milliliters of Propofol from the patient’s active drip device. Investigators said she was not authorized to handle the drug, and her actions could have caused serious medical complications.
Denton was later taken into custody and booked into the Metro jail. She is charged with impersonating a licensed professional, and her bond has been set at $75,000.
