NORTH CAROLINA — A 51-year-old man died Monday, two days after a motorcycle crash in the North Carolina mountains, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Michael Lyn Holman was riding a Harley-Davidson on Pottertown Road near Meat Camp Road around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone. He lost control, flipped the motorcycle, and was struck by an oncoming Jeep SUV.
Holman was taken to a hospital in Winston-Salem, where he died on Sept. 22. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
Highway Patrol said no charges will be filed. The crash occurred just a few miles from the North Carolina-Tennessee line, near the border with Ashe County.
