Four people arrested following drug bust in Illinois

ILLINOIS — A joint narcotics investigation by the Taylorville and Assumption police departments led to multiple arrests and the seizure of evidence early Thursday morning.

Officials said the investigation began with a traffic stop the night before. With support from the State’s Attorney, a judge approved a search warrant that was executed around 1:30 a.m. by the Emergency Response Team led by Sgt. Dickey in Assumption.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Taylorville and Assumption police departments, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Assumption Fire, and Echo Ambulance, worked together to carry out the warrant safely and without incident. Officials emphasized the critical role of the State’s Attorney in making such operations possible.

Several pieces of evidence were recovered at the residence, and four people were arrested:

  • Clayton A. Langley, Assumption — possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (15–100 grams)
  • Ericka L. Zahradka, Assumption — possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (15–100 grams)
  • Rebecca Burke, Taylorville — possession of methamphetamine
  • Justin Bright, Taylorville — possession of methamphetamine

Officials noted that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

“Taylorville and Assumption are working together: We will not tolerate drugs in our communities,” officials said.
