ILLINOIS — A Springfield man has been arrested after police say he attacked a woman with a knife inside a Walgreens bathroom earlier this week.
The incident happened Wednesday just after 1 p.m. at the Walgreens on MacArthur Boulevard, according to Springfield Police. Commander Jarod Maddox said a woman had entered the bathroom when a man followed her inside.
“The male displayed an open knife and threatened the female with the knife,” Maddox said. “The male then battered the female victim and immediately fled the area.”
Officers later located the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Malcolm D. Hill, nearby. He was positively identified and taken into custody.
Court records show Hill has been charged with aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault. He appeared in court Thursday, where he was granted pretrial release with conditions. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 2.
