OHIO — A 73-year-old Saint Paris man died Monday night after his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole in Champaign County.
The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 10:19 p.m. on Runkle Road. Eldon Luttrell was driving a Chrysler Town and Country eastbound when he veered off the road. The vehicle continued into two cornfields and a pond.
Emergency responders removed the vehicle from the pond, and Luttrell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, Champaign County Coroner’s Office, Christiansburg Fire Company, JSP Fire District, and Wooten Automotive & Towing assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
