ALABAMA — Authorities have arrested a Kentucky man in connection with a bank robbery in downtown Fort Payne.

The Fort Payne Police Department identified 62-year-old Mark Loveless of Somerset, Kentucky, as the suspect in the September 9 robbery of the PNC Bank at 200 Gault Avenue North. An arrest warrant was issued the following day.

According to police, Loveless entered the bank around 9:20 a.m. wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeve button-down shirt, and a black ball cap. Armed with a handgun, he handed a note to a teller demanding money. Loveless took approximately $3,000 and then left on foot, heading north.

Loveless was apprehended without incident by FBI Task Force Officers from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office in Pulaski County, Kentucky. He has been charged with first-degree robbery and is being held at the Pulaski County Jail pending extradition to Fort Payne. He may also face federal charges.

Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis praised the response, saying, “I want to thank our officers for their swift response to the robbery and our investigators for their diligence in resolving this case quickly. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the FBI Birmingham for their prompt assistance and hard work as well.”
