MARYLAND — Authorities seized a kilogram of fentanyl, multiple firearms, and more than $16,000 in cash during a major drug bust last week, city police announced Wednesday.
The Southwest District Action Team carried out raids in Southwest Baltimore and Baltimore County following a monthlong investigation centered on the Wilkens Avenue and Dover Street areas of Carrollton Ridge.
In addition to the fentanyl, police said they recovered 1,100 capsules of suspected fentanyl, a rifle, a Polymer80 ghost gun, large amounts of packaging materials, and $16,127 in cash.
Six people were arrested in connection with the case: Eric Taylor, 32; Derrick Stewart, 33; Matthew Brown, 41; Natasha Wilkins, 44; Elijah Dukes, 19; and a 17-year-old girl.
Police said the quantity of fentanyl seized could have had a “widespread and significant impact” on the community.
Following the bust, the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement said it is working with city, state, and federal partners to provide services. Officials urged anyone connected to the drug operation to seek resources, stop dealing drugs, and put down guns.
