
TENNESSEE — Authorities are seeking the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday night in Old Hickory.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Pitts Avenue.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 33-year-old James Sellars of Hendersonville was stopped at a red light in the southbound lanes when he was struck from behind by a silver Mercedes SUV.
Sellars and his Kawasaki CR 100 were pushed through the intersection and hit a traffic pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the Mercedes continued southbound on Old Hickory Boulevard. The SUV sustained front-end damage and was missing its front bumper, which was recovered at the scene.
