Over $2 million in narcotics seized by police in Virginia

VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police troopers seized more than $2 million in illegal drugs over the course of a week as part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative, officials announced.

The operation, conducted in partnership with local and federal agencies, took place from Thursday, Aug. 28, to Thursday, Sept. 4. Troopers confiscated 338 pounds of narcotics and 23 controlled substances, valued at $2,039,722.

Recovered drugs included:

  • 4.5 pounds of cocaine
  • 20 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 312.4 pounds of marijuana
  • 8 ounces of fentanyl
  • 23 fentanyl pills
  • 16 pounds of psilocybin
  • 2,000 THC vapes

Authorities also seized a firearm valued at $500.

During the same period, state troopers received 23 new human trafficking tips, bringing the total to 1,197. Officials said 218 cases are either under investigation or being actively investigated, with 3,220 investigative activities currently underway.
