FLORIDA — A Florida State University football player is in the hospital after being shot Sunday night near Tallahassee, according to school officials.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 10 p.m. to reports of a shooting on 16th Avenue near the Havana Heights Apartments. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

FSU officials later identified the victim as Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker. Pritchard remains in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit. The school said he was shot while visiting family in Havana.

Before joining FSU, Pritchard was a four-star linebacker at Seminole High School in Sanford, where he helped lead the team to a 10-2 record and a second consecutive regional final in 2024.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact FDLE or Investigator DeLeon at 850-627-9233.
