KANSAS — Wyandotte County residents can expect a new Buc-ee’s travel center and gas station by fall 2027, county officials confirmed.
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas’ board of commissioners recently approved a revision to the project’s development agreement, setting the construction start date for Oct. 1.
Under the updated agreement, Buc-ee’s is required to complete the project within 24 months, putting the expected opening around October 2027.
The Texas-based company plans a 74,000 square-foot travel center off Village West Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas. The facility will feature 120 gas pumps and 12 electric vehicle charging stations.
The $95 million project will be funded through a combination of private equity, debt, and public sales tax dollars via a community improvement district previously approved by commissioners.
Construction was originally scheduled to begin earlier this year but was delayed due to weather, finalizing tax incentive agreements, and making adjustments to the development agreement, officials said.
