
NORTH CAROLINA — Two people are facing multiple charges, including child abuse, following a probation and parole visit in Alexander County, authorities report.
Officers from the North Carolina Probation and Parole Division, assisted by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a check Wednesday at a home on Jay Stafford Drive.
Teri Michelle Pitts was arrested and charged with child abuse, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a parole violation.
She is being held at the Alexander County Detention Center without bond and is scheduled for a first appearance in district court on Sept. 8, with a separate hearing on her parole violation to be set later.
Yancey O’Brian Tanner faces a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a probation violation. He is being held on a $1,000 bond for the district court charge, with a court date set for Oct. 6, and a $10,000 bond for the probation violation, with his first appearance in superior court scheduled for Sept. 15.
