TENNESSEE — Metro police have launched a death investigation after a decomposed, headless body was discovered Friday morning along Dickerson Pike.
Officers responded to the 3300 block of Dickerson Pike around 10 a.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person. According to investigators, the body was found behind a shed located between a McDonald’s and a Waffle House.
Police later confirmed that a human skull was located about 100 yards away from where the body was found. Officials said it is unclear how long the remains had been at the site due to the advanced state of decomposition.
Homicide and Cold Case Unit detectives are leading the investigation as they work to identify the individual, determine how the remains ended up there, and establish the cause of death.
