INDIANA — A routine traffic stop in Knox County Wednesday night resulted in a drug arrest, authorities said.

A deputy pulled over a red 2000 Ford truck at the intersection of State Road 550 and Wheatland Road for lacking rear taillights. The driver, 53-year-old Charles Hayes, told the deputy he was unaware of the issue.

K-9 Goran was brought to the scene and signaled the presence of illegal drugs. A search of the truck uncovered a rubber container with a chalky substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Hayes was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was taken to the Knox County Jail and released after posting a $5,000 bond.
