GEORGIA — A Bacon County Jail officer was fired and arrested earlier this month after an internal investigation revealed he provided contraband to inmates, according to the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said 26-year-old Hernandez Robinson was terminated from employment and taken into custody on August 8. Robinson had worked for the Sheriff’s Office for only about four weeks before his arrest.
“This type of behavior will not be tolerated,” Sheriff Andy Batten said in a statement. “Mr. Robinson not only betrayed the trust of his fellow employees and the Sheriff’s Office, but he has committed a criminal act and must be held accountable.”
The Sheriff’s Office said the case remains under investigation.
