GEORGIA — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place Monday morning at an apartment complex in Lavonia.
The Lavonia Police Department said that as of 9:40 a.m., officers remained on the scene at the Clear Creek Apartments. According to authorities, one person is dead and another individual is in custody.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been notified and is responding to assist. Other agencies helping at the scene include the Georgia State Patrol, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said there is no active threat to the community. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes due to a road closure at Clear Creek.
The investigation is ongoing.
