OHIO — A chain-reaction crash on Ohio 60 claimed the life of a McConnelsville woman and injured three others around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash began when a commercial truck driven by Scott A. Lively, 52, of Zanesville, was traveling north and struck a vehicle in front of him, driven by Mary Russell, 46, of McConnelsville.
The impact pushed Russell’s vehicle off the left side of the road and into a Jeep driven by Alena Walters.
That collision forced the Jeep off the right side of the road. Lively’s truck then struck the rear of a commercial tanker trailer attached to a semi-truck driven by Michael Waters.
Russell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lively was transported to Genesis Hospital with serious injuries. Walters and Waters were also taken to Genesis for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
