
PENNSYLVANIA — Two women died Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision on Route 66, authorities said.
The crash occurred just after 1 p.m. when 67-year-old Janice Ciorra, traveling northbound, veered into the southbound lane and collided with a car driven by 63-year-old Cynthia Ament.
Ament was pronounced dead at the scene. Ciorra was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital but later died from her injuries. Neither vehicle had passengers.
The roadway was closed for several hours following the crash.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
